First Looks...As a dish and decor rental business we run into all kinds of interesting and clever tips from our clients and vendors. This tip we have found to be important but usually forgotten. Therefore, it is worth sharing. When you hear First Look, you automatically think of the wedding couple. The photographer gets a shot of them as they see each other for the first time before the ceremony. It is emotional, and a photo so worth having. However, we have found that there is another First Look that is too often being overlooked and can be emotional as well. Think about this. Typically the very first time the couple sees their beautiful reception room, it is filled with guests. The tables are already in use as the bridal party and couple make their grand entrances. At this point, couples can't see the real beauty of the room. Maddy & Joe's first look at their gorgeous wedding reception. Add this photo to your photographer's list. Don't forget to get your First Look photos of your beautiful reception! Set aside time for the two of you to enter your reception together with photographer in tow. Take a few minutes to soak it all in. Take a breath. Enjoy what you have created. Add to your photo list that you want photographs of you and your partner's reactions to seeing your reception room while your guests are in the cocktail hour. Let your caterer/planner know that the room is to be empty of caterers, staff and others. Typically, the colorful goblets on each table are filled with ice and water at the last possible minute, so let the staff know that those colorful goblets are to be filled before you enter. You want the room complete and perfect, so the photos capture your entire creation. Include these requests as part of your wedding plan. After all, you have spent money, energy and time putting this day together, so you deserve these photographs. We have been told that this First Look also brings a tear to the eye. Your room is magnificent. Take photos in it before it is filled and cluttered. You will be so glad you did.
